Executive Summary

Figma is the collaborative design platform that has structurally displaced Adobe XD, Sketch, and most legacy desktop design tools across the global software industry. Founded in 2012 by Dylan Field and Evan Wallace and incubated at Mitchell Baker’s Mozilla, Figma pioneered browser-native collaborative design — a model that proved decisive for distributed design teams. Adobe attempted to acquire Figma for $20 billion in 2022; the deal was abandoned in late 2023 after antitrust opposition from the European Commission and the UK Competition and Markets Authority. Figma subsequently IPO’d on the NYSE in July 2025 at $33 per share. The stock at $22.50 has corrected 32 percent from IPO as the market has tested the durability of the growth trajectory against the elevated public-market multiple.
